Is anyone using any sort of rubric to help teams understand where they are
on the journey to being truly self-managed and self-organized?

Hi Jean

Not being sure what rubric meant, I looked it up:

ru·bric noun \ˈrÃŒ-brik, -ˌbrik\ : a name or heading under which something is classified
: an explanation or a set of instructions at the beginning of a book, a test, etc.

Guess you mean sort of the second definition.

Surely there is only one meaningful test - "Is anyone outside the Development Team telling them how to do their job".

Obviously the Dev Team agree with the Product Owner as to what and when and they may need 'outside' technical guidance but they should decide amongst themselves all management and team organisation activities.

Check out the Spotify self-assessment. One thing I noticed on it that I
REALLY liked was the Player/Pawn assessment. Does the team feel like a
player in the game, or a pawn? This is a great way to express the degree
of self-management and self-organization.

Thanks, George. This is useful.

I also think I need something more. In some cases, unmanaged seems to be
mistaken for self-managed. Determining that difference is also important.
